Fear keeps us from God

I know, you've heard that time and time again.  Bear with me.  The Lord understands our fears and knows best.  He won't leave or forsake us because of our fears.  I'm not talking about my fear of spiders or heights.  I'm not talking about being afraid of breaking a nail or getting a scratch on your new BMW.  Nor am I talking about other people's fears that are thrust upon you.  I'm talking about fears that keep us from the love of God.  I have fears.  You do too.  I have love.  You do too.  I have been hurt.  You have been too.  We are all in this same boat together and yes we don't seem to be able to help one another avert our fears.  Why is that?  Etiology is the study of first things or first causes.  Bet you didn't know that word for the day.  Yet, etiology, is meant to help us in our desire to have no fear.  People will tell you they have no fears.  They may even pretend to not be afraid.  We all do that.  Why don't we look deeper and understand the etiology of fear from a Christian perspective.
Fear of the Lord is the beginning of understanding the Bible says multiple times.  Just what is the fear of the Lord and why is it good?  The fear of the Lord is found when we step inside the circle and for the first time understand the nature of God.  It's like the cavalry heading to the fort to avoid being massacred.  They may have been in the battle but needed to make a wise choice (understanding) and seek the refuge of the fort.  Once inside they close the stockade gates and breathe a sigh of relief.  They know that inside the circle is where God provides for them, keeps them safe, and refreshes them.  Outside are all things bad and harmful.  The awareness of being in the safety of the hands of God brings a new revelation of how powerless and helpless we are outside the protection of God's hands.  We fear God because we are overwhelmed by the blessings and goodness he provides for his children and wrath he has for his enemies (enemies being both human and spiritual forces.  The Bible says EVERYONE will one day bow before God and call him Lord.  The fear some have is because they have not received the love of God through salvation found only in Jesus.
The Bible tells us that perfect love casts out ALL fear.  That's good news for us who are full of fears.  The etiological argument then says:  If we have fears that love doesn't reside therein.  Think about it; love casts out all fears.  Perfect love doesn't even entertain fears!  There is no love in the world designed by Satan and ruled by him and his demons.  Those without Jesus live without the circle of care that the Christian is supposed to live within.  Those Christians who step outside the circle don't fear God and live in fear of mankind and the world.  In order to cast aside fear we need to believe God loves us and wants to take care of his children.  When we shirk his love our self will kicks in and fear takes over.  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of understanding.  Perfect love casts out all fear.  He who loves the Lord is found to have perfect peace.  God longs to keep you feeling loved and unafraid.  Remember, it's always your choice.
