Do you really trust?

There may have been books written about this subject.  This may have been the plot of one of your pastors sermons.  Perhaps the plot in your relationship, past, present and future.  You may have (you think) reason to not trust.  Maybe you are the reason someone doesn't trust you.  Trust is a volatile subject on all fronts in peoples lives except maybe the Christian.  Why would that be?  The Christian has been told by the Words of Jesus himself to "trust no one."  There seems to be a lack of trust for eons.  In fact isn't that what the serpent talked with Eve about while getting her to trusts him and eat of the tree?  "Surely you will not die."  Doubt.  Doubt and a lack of guts to tell the devil to get out of the garden.  Instead Eve eats of the fruit and then brings the doubt to Adam who also gives up his trust in God and gives into the devil.  The rest, as they say, is history.  So why are we repeating this history day after day?  Yet, here we are doubting and not trusting God.  God's given us no reason to not trust him.  God has gone the extra mile so that we can have no doubt that we can trust his intervention in our lives.  He sacrificed his Son so that we could have that trust relationship with him every day.  What is required of us is surrender.  The surrender of self means the trust we are using in our lives is actually God's trust.  It's when we recognize this trust that we can be assured that all things are possible with God.
How can we teach our children to trust when we teach our children and others to not trust us?  I'm talking to the Christian here.  The world simply parrots what the devil wants in their lives.  But the Christian!  You tell your children to tell the truth and then lie to them.  Remember Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth fairy?  You may think I'm nitpicking here.  Think about it.  You hear that phrase "Always tell the truth." and then they find our that you didn't.  You have told people in your group your past according to your definition and particular bent.  But have you told them the truth.  The truth sets you free to trust God who is infinitely wise in leading you through the valleys as well as over the mountains.  But, you don't trust God so you do what you have to do according to what you think.  Why is that?  Do you really think you are better handling your life than Jesus?  Trust is not even a question to those who really trust God for salvation and a resurrected living.  Telling the truth releases you from that power of the lie.  Satan is called the father of lies.  He lies to us and that's all we can trust him to do with us.  He asks us to lie to others and if we don't have the Lord, we do just that.  Don't mind the age.  Don't mind the situation.  The sin holds us captive and Jesus alone is where we can find release from that prison.
Where do we go to build this Christian trust.  Obviously God.  More precisely read the Word and know what it says.  Second, believe what the Word has said.  Third, go through ACTS and know what the voice of the Father sounds like based on the word, prayer, and action.  Walking in the truth is walking in trust.  Walking with Jesus living through you is love towards those around you.  Perfect love casts out fear and instills the truth we can trust sharing with others.  When people see Jesus living through you and I they can see that there is something different about us.  It's Jesus.  People see Jesus.  Do you really trust those who bend the Scriptures to say what they want?  Do you really trust those who's agenda is to bring in the members and collect money rather than make disciples of all mankind?  Do you really trust anyone other than Jesus.  You know he won't lead you astray.  Begin to trust him and live a full life of the love of Christ.
