Life is a controversial thing...

...unless you live the life of a hermit.  Controversy comes in so many different ways that one needs to ask themselves where to start.  Where do we start?  Controversy is.  That's the start.  Controversy will be until the end.  That's the end.  What we do with controversy is the in between and determining factor of our involvement.  Like the hermit, if you don't want to be a par of the controversy in life, choose to live outside of any kind of civilization.  You may still have controversy with the animals or some noxious plants; but you will be able to avoid the world the rest of us live in.  Christians are not to be hermits.  Nor are they to be the narcissistic rulers of the world.  Christians by their definition are to be "little Christ's" to their world.  Controversy will be sure to follow if we even step foot into that arena.  In the name of "peace" we tend to avoid controversy.  We avoid, rename, deny and capitulate our worlds controversy's so that we are comfortable.  Comfortable isn't controversial.
Christ was controversial thousands of years before his birth, life, death and resurrection.  He remains controversial to this day.  To the "little Christ's" imitating him; you should be controversial as well.  Not in a negative sense.  Just don't be the status quo for the world.  There are plenty of Christians out there who do nothing, say nothing and represent nothing.  Don't be one of them.  Controversial doesn't mean offensive in the sense that no one wants to be associated with you or be seen with you.  Nor does it mean that you have to live outside your comfort zone.  Controversial is just being who Jesus wants you to be to the world He has placed you in.  He's put you where you are for a reason.  Find out what that reason is and then go and accomplish that mission.  Maybe it's just being a listening person handing out sandwiches at a homeless shelter.  Maybe you're called to stand before the local political body and plead the case of the less fortunate.  I don't know what you are called to do or be.  I'm busy enough figuring out my calling and it's parameters.
In today's world people are so busy trying to be everything to everyone that they display little of the person of Christ in their life.  We don't need to become part of the world to help change the world.  We don't need to abandon our beliefs in order to have people buddy up to us.  People in the world are looking for answers themselves.  They may not show it or even acknowledge that hey are looking for answers.  All of us have had that time in our life when we have been wanting an answer that makes sense.  One that fills up that part of us that is blank.  It's not like the time you wondered how something worked.  It's more like what is needed inside of you so that you work.  Being a functioning Christian is not a choice or option.  Either you are or are not a Christian which means you are a "little Christ" to your world.  You still have the choice even after reading this blog today.  The difference is your choice will mean whether or not Christ is shared in your world.  C'mon, be controversial for once in your life!
